Cambridge Jazz Festival are proud to welcome award winning composer and saxophonist, Emma Rawicz as Artist in Residence.
Young rising star saxophonist Emma Rawicz has recently turned her formidable talents to the world of big band and for this special show joins forces with the renowned Cambridge University Jazz Orchestra. Composition has always been a core part of Emma’s identity, and she now showcases her distinctive writing within the big band setting.
Expect to hear captivating, electrifying arrangements of Emma’s music, ranging from edgy, up tempo originals through joyful Afro-Cuban inspired grooves to moving ballads, as well as the premier of a new composition commissioned by Cambridge Jazz Festival. Emma will not be putting the sax down for this gig though, and will feature as a soloist as well as directing the band.

Since 2014 CJF have celebrated Jazz in all its genres, bringing international masters, national treasures, local talent & audiences together as a vibrant community.
The festival is a celebration of the huge variety of music that jazz encompasses, from gypsy jazz to funk, from jazz poetry and spoken word to hip-hop, from solo artists to big bands and to open jazz up to new audiences, particularly young people, and to give them the chance to get involved as well as come and listen.
