Samulnori is a virtuoso Korean percussion genre rooted in p’ungmul (farmers’ band music). It is performed by four different drum and gong instruments and translates roughly into ‘four things play’. Samulnori has gained rapid popularity and recognition both within Korea and internationally since the late 1970s. The Cambridge University Samulnori Society is dedicated to promoting this percussive art genre in a fun and beginner friendly environment. Under the direction of Nami Morris, the group will perform a variety of Samulnori repertoire.
