Cambridge Summer Music Festival
Aurora and Capoeira Workshops Music for Kids
Performance dates
11.00am-Sat 24th July 2010, 3.00pm
Programme details
Join Aurora Orchestra for a day of workshops that explore how music moves us (literally!). Aurora will be teaming up with members of the brilliant Cordão de Ouro, who are some of the world's best performers of the Brazlian dance-like martial art, Capoeira. Workshops will explore how Capoeira dancers interact with music and will give children the opportunity to learn some of the moves and perhaps create some of their own! All music will be performed live by Aurora musicians and will centre on the delightful ballet music of French baroque composers Lully and Rameau.
These workshops will be led by Aurora's lively and experienced education team, and will be specially tailored to suit the needs of different ages. This day will be about how we use our bodies to explore music so children need to wear something that's easy to move about in. Children will also be given the opportunity to make music alongside Aurora musicians using their voices and percussion instruments that we will provide. You only need to bring yourself and come ready to move!
